Is legal for women to be topless in New York City?

Square

Thursday, August 8, 2019. New York City – YES, it is legal! Many people do not know, but women have been legally allowed to go topless in public in New York City since 1992.

In 1992, the New York Court of Appeals, in a ruling by Judge Vito Joseph Titone found that “the People have offered nothing to justify a law that discriminates against women by prohibiting them from removing their tops and exposing their bare chests in public as men are routinely permitted to do.”

“As long as men are allowed to be topless in public, women should have the same constitutional right. Or else, men should have to wear something to hide their chests” Rael, founder of GoTopless.org
